Execution of large number of workflows is not an issue since the execution represents only one simple database insert. Web client is not blocked.

Windows service takes then care of everything else. The service goes through particular activities step by step in all the running workflows and processes them one after another.

The only thing that can slow down is workflow activity processing. If there are too many of them to process then it takes longer time before the whole workflow is processed.

We recommend checking the history of job processing in this case and specifically number of WF activities processed and the end time. The load increase no matter if caused by increase of users or increase of workflow processes shall be reflected in server capacity increase.
